What is Solution Focused Brief Therapy?
SFBT is a short-term , goal oriented therapeutic approach that focuses on identifying and building solutions rather than analyzing problems. I will work with you to envision your desired future and discover steps to achieve it. This type of counseling emphasizes what is already working for you and how you can expand upon those success skills. Setting small, yet measurable goals helps the client to focus on their strengths rather than fixate on “why” they have the problem. This form of therapy is meant to be brief in nature, often completing within 5-10 sessions.

Solution Focused Brief Therapy can be very beneficial to students and those seeking to make changes in their daily patterns. This approach promotes resilience, self- efficacy,problem solving and independence. I have seen SFBT assist my students have great success with building habits and communication skills that boosts confidence in their academics. It also encourages them to take small steps towards big goals, which will be greatly needed as they progress in their academic journey.
